DESCRIPTION:The Artadia Award is unique, providing substantial financi
 al support, critical validation and broader public exposure for artist
 s across the country:\n\n* Cash awards are granted in participating ci
 ties on a rotating basis.\n\n* Awards ranging from $15,000 to $3,000 a
 re unrestricted, and can be used however the artist sees fit.\n\n* App
 lications are open to all visual artists who reside in Artadia's parti
 cipating cities.\n\n* A two-tiered selection process combines local ex
 pertise with outside perspectives from leading national and internatio
 nal curators and artists.\n\n* Visiting panelists engage with local ar
 tists in their studios, gaining a broader context for their work and f
 acilitating long-lasting relationships.\n\n* A preliminary panel of pr
 ominent national and local curators and artists evaluates all the subm
 issions and selects 15 finalists.\n\n* A second panel of curators and 
 artists travels to the participating city and conducts studio visits w
 ith each of the finalists. This panel selects the artists who receive 
 Artadia Awards. However used, the Artadia Award is the monetary compon
 ent of a wider culture of support.\n\neligibility & guidelines\n\nThe 
 Artadia Awards application process is open to all visual artists who:\
 n\n* Live and work in designated partner cities.\n\n* Have resided in 
 the program city for at least one year prior to the application deadli
 ne.\n\n* Are not currently enrolled in an art-related college or unive
 rsity degree program, nor planning to attend an art-related college or
  university degree program in the coming year.\n\n* Are not related to
  Artadia staff or directors in any way.\n\n* Have not received an Arta
 dia (formerly The ArtCouncil Inc.) Award for $10,000 or more in the pa
 st.\n\nAbout the Application\n\nThe Artadia Awards online application 
 includes an applicant profile section, an area to submit a C.V. (curri
 culum vitae/artist resumé), artist’s statement and eight (8) images
  of artwork and/or details; or Video/Media/Sound. Time-based media sub
 missions may be sent by mail in addition to, or in lieu of the 8 digit
 al images submitted online. The jury will review up to 5 minutes of th
 e submitted Video/Media/Sound. Complete details are available once an 
 application is initiated and the eligible applicant logs in.\n\ndeadli
 nes\n\nArtadia will post specific dates online as soon as they are det
 ermined. Applications are accepted ONLY during specified application p
 eriods, as indicated below. Online applications are only available dur

 ycle is now open through October 15, 2009. Apply now!\n\nApplication\n
 \nAll visual artists living and working in the 5-county San Francisco 
 Bay Area are strongly encouraged to apply. Awards will be selected in 
 the fall of 2009 through Artadia's two-tiered jury process. This is Ar
 tadia's seventh awards cycle in the San Francisco Bay Area. The five e
 legible Bay Area-counties are: Alameda, Contra-Costa, Marin, San Franc
 isco, and San Mateo.\n\nThe application deadline is October 15, 2009, 
 11:59 PM PST.\n\nThe Artadia Awards web-based application includes an 
 applicant profile section, an area to submit a CV (curriculum vitae/ar
