This painting is the counterpoint to “He is Not Here (Lotus Resurrection)”, depicting the ascension of Christ into heaven.  Again, lotus imagery is used here to transform what many Chinese people have understood as a Buddhist symbol of enlightenment and redeem it by using it as a Christian symbol of the ascension.
