this is a public project I created in Mission neighborhood.
There are frequently some contradictory relationships of street art and the urban plan. But a neighborhood like Mission seems to have more toleration and freedom to people, and allows more personalities to grow herein.
My project is to put on colorful outfit for the pipes stick out the ground on the sidewalk in front of some merchants. The pipes and their caps shaped like mushrooms and some of them were painted into mushrooms already by unknown. The outfit will not be removed after the show, and will become part of the streets of Mission. Although, I make the outfit removable so if someone want to take the outfit for other usage, or swap them, or the city or merchants need to check the pipes someday, the function still maintains. I like to see the art become a part of people’s life and move on with time, but not becoming a distraction or make permanent change.
