Chi-Han Cheng (Jason Cheng) is a fine artist currently residing in San Francisco. He was born on April 12, 1991, in Taipei, Taiwan and has lived in different countries since childhood. Jason received his Bachelor of Fine Art degree at the National Art School in Sydney, Australia and presently, he expects to graduate with an MFA degree from the San Francisco Academy of Art University in May 2016. Numerous works of his have earned accolades and awards. For example his artwork Marvin won Shades of Gray online competition’s grand award sponsored by Drawing Magazine in Feb., 2016, and his painting This Morning was the curator’s top pick out of all the paintings entered in the Hall Groat’s Still Life online competition in Dec., 2014. In Oct., 2015, he was introduced to the legendary Don Ed Hardy by an acquaintance at Almac Photography, a studio where artworks are professionally shot. Jason was honored to be able to show many of his works to Mr. Hardy, who complimented him. In April 2016, his paintings were exhibited in the Sanctuary Group Show at the De Young Museum, and his first solo show will be held from January 6 to February 6, 2017 at the Academy of Art University gallery space at 625 Sutter Street, San Francisco. He is currently working on a series of paintings, “Under the Skin--Remnants”, a sequence collection of fine art paintings that blend tattoo elements with fine art paintings. He believes tattoos can narrate and represent a person just as our heritage shapes our individualities.
