A Chinese Culture Foundation of San Francisco Program 舊金山中華文化基金会項目
The Chinese Culture Center is pleased to invite artists to submit for artwork for a community open space on the pedestrian bridge, connecting Portsmouth Square with the Financial District.
In partnership with the Mayor’s Office, Chinatown Community Development Center, community leaders, local businesses, local artists, and the Hilton Hotel, the CCC is currently working to transform the Portsmouth Square pedestrian bridge into a public space filled with greenery and contemporary art as part of the Community Challenge Grant Program (CCG). CCG brings together community based organizations and businesses to collaborate on a neighborhood beautification project. As one of the densest neighborhoods in the City, this project will increase the open space in Portsmouth Square available to Chinatown residents and visitors by 10%.
As part of this effort, we are inviting artists to submit artwork samples and a full proposal, which will be displayed on the pedestrian bridge. Plants and other greenery will also be used to beautify the bridge so artists are asked to consider how their artwork will be complimentary to the greenery. The main areas of focus for artwork are the benches, slope between the staircase to the CCC, and the gate.
If selected, call for full proposal: July 1, 2015
Artists must be available for public presentation in Fall 2015 and installation in early 2016.
