About Me 個人簡介:
Feng Jin came from China and has lived in the Bay Area for 13 years. His work were influenced by both Chinese and American cultures which present a diverse beauty of visions and techniques. Feng’s latest sculptures grow out of his encounter with the diverse and multiple artistic traditions within which he has lived and learned.

Feng’s art already holds a place in history: He was one of the main designers and co-production sculptors of the Goddess of Democracy statue raised in Tiananmen Square during the 1989 protests.

Feng Jin is a prolific sculptor. Since immigrating to the Bay Area, Feng has created a truly diverse array of work without ever being imitative of anyone. He likes to try new ideas and does at least 10 pieces of sculptures for each new ideas, using different materials and techniques to fully explore and learn. Feng works with bronze, steel, stainless steel, cast iron, copper and brass. Each sculpture styles tell different stories which target people of all ages and backgrounds.

Feng Jin has exhibited widely in the Bay Area. He and his wife Lauren Huang recently formed a non-profit artist organization "Asian Modern Arts Society" helping professional and emerging Asian artists to promote their art work in the U.S.

Feng and Lauren: I love the beginning of this friendship with the two of you. I have long been interested in the works of artists from China. In 2004 and 2005 I traveled to China and gave lectures as part of 2 U. S. artists' groups that presented at colleges, universities, and art academies in Beijing, Xian, and Shanghai. Hope that you can attend my May 17th 4 - 6 pm interview with Moira Rot, Trefethen Professor of Art History at Mills College in Oakland, at SomArts. On May 22nd, from 6 - 8 pm the Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center will be holding a book launch/signing for the book that accompanies 70/30. Please continue to send me images of your work, Feng. They inspire me. Flo

Feng: I am Flo Oy Wong and I e-met your wife, Lauren, when she helped me upload my submission for the SF Central Subway project. Lauren told me that you are a sculptor and so I am happy to see these images of your work. I like the shredded paper installation very much and several of your sculptures read beautifully. Congratulations on doing such beautiful work. I hope to meet you in person in the future. Flo
